18 Nepali Citizens Relinquish Lamjung Residency for Foreign Nationalities

Lamjung, Nepal – A notable development has emerged in Lamjung, where 18 Nepali citizens who had established Lamjung as their permanent residence but had ventured abroad for employment have chosen to renounce their Nepali citizenship.
These individuals, who had originally acquired Nepali citizenship from the District Administration Office in Lamjung, have now formally given up their Nepali citizenship. Notably, the years 2074 and 2078 witnessed the highest number of citizenship renunciations in the district, with five individuals relinquishing their citizenship during each of these years.
Further details indicate that in the year 2073, two individuals, in 2075, one individual, in 2079, two individuals, and in 2080, three individuals have also chosen to renounce their Nepali citizenship. Jagdish Mishra, the Information Officer of the District Administration Office, provided this information.
According to Mishra, these Nepali citizens have taken this step as they are required to forfeit their Nepali citizenship to obtain citizenship in other countries. Additionally, those who have spent extensive periods working abroad, have acquired DV (Diversity Visa) and PR (Permanent Residency) statuses, and have maintained marital ties with foreign nationals have similarly opted to renounce their Nepali citizenship.
